About us

Nichia is the worldwide leading LD (Laser Diodes) / LED (Light Emitting Diodes) manufacturer with a substantial market share among other high brightness LED manufacturers and an annual turnover of approximately JPY 507.1 billion in 2023. Nichia Corporation is a Japanese company with 15 Sales Offices all over the world and some 9,500 employees worldwide.

NICHIA is the inventor of the super high brightness InGaN-based blue LED, having realized that breakthrough in 1993. On that basis we succeeded in 1996 with the invention of the phosphor converted White LED. Since then, our InGaN-based LEDs in a huge variety of emission colors, ranging from ultraviolet to amber, have substantially contributed to the diversification of LED application fields.
